In northern Italy’s Valle dei Laghi, rising temperatures, changing rainfall patterns and increasing demand are putting a strain on water resources. Agriculture, energy production, drinking water and ecosystems are now competing for a limited supply. Scientists of the IMPETUS research project (EU) collaborates with communities to co-design adaptation strategies, ranging from decision support tools to integrated governance. Experts of the Eurac Research Institute are developing tools to inform decision-making in the face of climate extremes and local action offers valuable lessons for climate adaptation across Europe.
The IMPETUS project is running until the end of 2025.
